Tank problem

Product Changeover Cleaning

Trace the outgoing product through every shared contact point before the incoming batch is scheduled. Valve pockets, dip pipes and transfer lines can retain material after the shell has been cleaned.

Tank problem

The complete outgoing-product route

Map every shared contact point between the outgoing and incoming products. A vessel wall may be accessible while a valve pocket, transfer line or sample point remains outside the proposed work.

The changeover route

Outgoing and incoming products are followed through every shared valve, line and fitting. The cleaning record uses the same route before the site’s own inspection or sampling check.

Fittings and lines are separate from the shell

Follow the outgoing product through the shell, valves, dip pipes, agitator fittings and low points. The site defines which of those areas it will inspect or sample before accepting the incoming product.

The production team checks the incoming-product route

That decision belongs in the work plan, not at the end of the clean. Visual cleanliness may be sufficient for one changeover but inappropriate for another. If the tank serves food production, the food tank cleaning page sets out the extra details the contractor needs to consider.

The work order names both products, any incompatible cleaning materials, the retention points included and the evidence used by the site’s own acceptance check.

During a changeover, the work follows the full product path through the tank and its connections. Shared transfer lines, valves and fixed internals need to be included or excluded explicitly. The production team can then check the areas that matter for the incoming product and retain control of the final acceptance decision.
