Tank problem

Inspection Cleaning Backlogs

Imagine several tanks waiting for different inspectors. One has a confirmed empty window, another lacks an isolation date and a third needs only one seam exposed. That programme should be ordered by those real dependencies rather than by the age of a general backlog entry.

Tank problem

Sequence the tanks by confirmed inspection dates

A backlog becomes manageable when every vessel has a confirmed empty window, inspection target and receiving contact. Missing dates should remain visible instead of being hidden inside a portfolio total.

Details needed for each tank in the backlog

For each vessel, record the confirmed empty window, booked inspector and target surface. Keep its handover and remaining limitations with that vessel rather than one programme-wide note.

Confirmed downtime and booked inspections set the order

Rank the backlog by the inspection already booked, the vessel’s empty window and the surfaces the inspector needs. A long list without those three facts cannot be sequenced credibly.

A separate completion record for each vessel

For each vessel, the completion record lists exposed areas and remaining limits. The inspector decides whether the view is sufficient.

Each tank keeps its own inspection date, exposed areas and handover note even when equipment or recovery arrangements are shared. Programme pressure does not combine the safety decisions for separate vessels.

Group programmes are easiest to manage when every vessel keeps its own inspection date, empty window and target surfaces. Similar tanks may share equipment or recovery arrangements, but one delayed isolation should not obscure the status of the rest. The inspector’s requested view remains the completion point for each clean.
