Feeds, returns, vents, drains, shared headers and internal coils are marked on the current drawing. Pumps, heaters, agitators and automatic valves are added with their authorised owners. The isolation planning guide supports the site’s live procedure; it does not operate equipment or confirm that entry is safe.
Check the installation, not only the diagram
- Later connections and shared headers
- Automatic equipment and stored energy
- Named person authorised for each control
Draw every feed, return, vent, drain and energy source that can affect the vessel. Beside each one, name the authorised person and the current isolation point.
Changes remain in the site’s live procedure. The planning record notes who approved the change and when the tank was handed back; it does not operate the isolation itself.
Isolation does not make a tank safe to enter
Current installation details should lead the guide, rather than simply repeat an old drawing. Each feed, return, vent, drain and energy source needs an identified control point and authorised owner. If the pipework differs from the record, the discrepancy is resolved before the isolation is relied upon.
